It's official

As you may or may not know, the G-20 summit is here in PGH next week. As part of the precautions for the event, the unversity where I work is shutting down for two days next week. So to make up for the hours I will be missing, I have had to pick up extra shifts this weekend. And because the weekend bus service is crappy, I have been riding my road bike to commute. Except the road bike is just recently back from the shop and I took it out for a bit-too-long ride when I first got it back. Mostly, okay except for the bit where I wasn't used to the seat, and developed what is called a saddle sore - no big deal, a little ointment and stay off it for a couple days - except I need to commute on those days to make up for the work I'm missing, so that's off the table:

So the G-20 is now quite literally a pain in my ass.

They're shutting down the school?

What, like they want the students to go out and protest?

I don't know about Pitt, but CMU is shutting down half the academic buildings for an afternoon and evening because there's a G-20 dinner in a building just off campus. Unfortunately, they aren't the buildings that all my classes are actually in.

Mostly, it means that the Fence has been taken over by protesters and there's people bothering me to go protest something with them.

Well put on your "I support our robot overlords" or "War Profiteer and Proud of it!" T-Shirt that CMU really should hand out to all students and go protest the Stillerz Offensive Line with the rest of them.

Geez, I thought I was kidding about protesting the O-line, but the big rallying cry at the cops-vs-protesters standoff going on 10 blocks away is 'Lets go Pens!"
